New EuroVelo map to be launched at ITB Berlin
The map, which provides an overview of the entire European cycle route network, will be launched as part of the third edition of the Cycling Tourism Day being held on Friday 6 March 2020 at the world’s leading travel trade show.
- Main highlight: release of the new printed overview map of the whole EuroVelo network
- Cycling Tourism Day also features the launch of EuroVelo 8 – Mediterranean Route promotional brochures and a new EuroVelo 1 – Atlantic Coast Route transnational website
- EuroVelo will welcome visitors at booth n°241 in Hall 4.1b, shared with partners from the EuroVelo 1 AtlanticOnBike EuroVelo 13 Interreg Slovakia-Austria projects
For the third year in a row, EuroVelo will organise the Cycling Tourism Day on Friday 6 March in Adventure Hall 4.1, in collaboration with ADFC, the German Cyclists’ Association. This day will be full of presentations and discussions with a dozen leading experts from cycling and tourism organisations, including sessions on Cycling Tourism in Numbers, Combining Cycling Tourism with Cultural and Natural Heritage Sites, Alpine Cycle Routes and Cycling Tourism in Coastal Regions. Participants will also be invited to a networking lunch at the EuroVelo booth between 12.00 and 13.00! Discover the full programme on the EuroVelo website.
The Cycling Tourism Day will provide the stage for this year’s big EuroVelo announcements, the main one being the release of the new EuroVelo printed maps. Boasting important updates since the 2016 version, the new maps display the current development status of the whole EuroVelo network and are based on the latest GPS tracks provided by National EuroVelo Coordinators across Europe. The printed maps will be available at the EuroVelo booth (booth n°241 in Hall 4.1b).
It will also be the occasion to launch the new EuroVelo 8 – Mediterranean Route Promotional Brochures. These detailed guides were developed in the frame of the MEDCYCLETOUR Interreg project and provide a lot of touristic information on the route, such as the main attractions to visit along the way, addresses of tourist information centres and bike repair shops, and many inspiring pictures.
Last but not least, the new EuroVelo 1 – Atlantic Coast Route transnational website and video, developed in the frame of the AtlanticOnBike Interreg project, will be launched on the main stage on the Cycling Tourism Day. The 20 partners involved in this project came together to provide the latest GPS tracks, identify what’s not to miss along this cycle route of more than 11,000 km and divide it into thematic stages. Special culinary products from France, Spain and Ireland will delight the networking lunch’s participants’ taste buds on this occasion!
