Barcelona to host EuroVelo and Cycling Tourism Conference in Autumn 2021
The European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) is joining forces with a committee formed by the Government of Catalonia, the Barcelona City Council, the Barcelona Provincial Council, the Barcelona Metropolitan Area and the Federation of Bicycle Users of Catalonia (FEMBici) to organise the fifth edition of the EuroVelo and Cycling Tourism Conference. The EuroVelo Conference gathers professionals from the tourism and cycle tourism sectors from all around the world to discuss this growing market that employs over 500,000 Europeans and generates an economic impact of over 44 billion euros to the European economy every year.
The official announcement of the EuroVelo and Cycling Tourism Conference 2021 will be made on 6th October 2020 to coincide with the annual meeting of the National EuroVelo Coordination Centres and Coordinators (NECC/Cs), the EuroVelo General Meeting (EVGM), which exceptionally this year will take place via Zoom.
While the original plans were to organise the EuroVelo and Cycling Tourism Conference in 2020, the COVID-19 crisis has resulted in a postponement by twelve months to guarantee the safety of the 200 expected participants and the success of the conference. Find out more in this press released published by the Government of Catalonia.
Previous editions of the Conference took place in Belgian Limburg (2018), Vienna (2016), Basel (2014) and Nantes (2012). In 2020, ECF has selected Barcelona from 10 candidate European cities and regions to host the EuroVelo and Cycling Tourism Conference 2021.
We look forward to welcoming you to Barcelona in October 2021!
